All souls were created in the beginning and are spiraling their way back
to whence they came.

Excerpt from “The Celtic Wheel of Life’ by Andy Baggott
“The sabbat of Yule (you-wool), which begins at dusk on the night before Winter Solstice, pre-dates Christianity by several thousand years. Most of the practices that we now associate with Christmas have their roots in pre-Christian traditions, which in turn have deep and meaningful significances?”
Yule; The Celebration of the return of the Light. Charting our lives onto the Old Wheel Calendar, we can use this information from the Ancients as a power point within the year. The Light finally begins to wax, and a myriad of possibilities are in form ready for intention and dedication for the year ahead. Inspirations, ideas and plans for the next cycle, which is a cycle of growth, can be felt mulling at this time and set in intention mode. This is where the “new years resolution” ideals originated from… the energy of the return of the Light that the Ancients understood at a very deep level.
Reconnecting with the Old Wheel Calendar can be used as a useful tool when you begin to see the theme’s associated with each Sabbat, or spoke, of The Wheel.
Here is an excellent excerpt from Suzy Peltiers upcoming book ‘The Wisdom of the Seasons: A Guide to the Sabbats, the Chakras and the Tao’, which talks about theses Central Theme’s associated with Yule.
“Winter Solstice, also known as Yule, marks the vigil of the longest night of the year. The Earth Mother is in labor, and dawn will bring the rebirth of the Sun Child. This holiday honors the shift into the waxing half of the year and into a new growth cycle. From now until Summer Solstice (the opposite holiday) the days will lengthen and warmth will return to the land.
The Sun Child’s rebirth is also our own rebirth. The waning half of the year has taken us into our own dark places prompting a soul-searching review in Cerridwen’s Cauldron. We honored the dead and we have been composting the past, simmering in Cerridwen’s primal soup ever since. Now that same Cauldron of Death brews Inspiration and Rebirth.
Our review began as a look at separate, or what appeared to be separate issues. Upon closer examination many of our issues have one or two root causes. This is the reason most New Year’s resolutions usually fail. They are usually focusing on issues and not the themes that actually support them. Now we are challenged to perceive the issues as different symptoms of core themes. In other words, now that you have boiled it down to the essence, what is the root theme (s) or underlying pattern connecting and supporting your issues? For more information on this please review the accompanying material mentioned above: “Samhain to Yule: Starting from Zero, info sheet” plus a “Detailed Preparation Sheet” and a “Sacrifice Treasure Map: Charting Your Issues worksheet.”
Once we are clear that the issues we face are reflections of old programming and misunderstandings of Cosmic principles that cause us to doubt ourselves and the great-man-potential in others as well as the Unseen power of the Creative to “move mountains” in our lives. Once revealed these misunderstandings and old programming can be rewritten. Without the story and drama the lessons are muddy. With clarity we can move forward into a new growth cycle.
