The Biography of Lee Devanas

My name is Lee Devanas . I am what some may call an artist , i am what some may call an absurdist . I prefer the latter term . I paint with oils , acrylics , spray paint , sharpie , and house paint . I am not restricted to canvas as most artists seem to be .

I will paint on just about anything. Tabletops, old doors, auto body parts, empty spray cans , and any other junk i can find littering the streets of my hood . I call it recyclable art . It's a much cheaper way to produce art , rather than spending the gas money to drive to one of the very few , and far , artist supply stores , which are usually over-priced . And its better for the environment!

I am inspired by absolute absurdity. i.e. random lists of grocery items , found objects , art terrorists defacing billboards , train car art , messages written on bathroom walls , mustaches , and plain old fashioned vandalism .

I have also been inspired by many styles of art and an array of different artists over the years. Many of the more modern artists that inspire, are pigeonholed in the lowbrow category. And the other artists that inspire me have nothing in common with my work . I guess you could say that I’m all over the place with my influences .

I do not paint to please anyone but myself. I do not try to appease the public. I do not sugarcoat my art.
